Contact your Senator to Support Biden's Nominee for the ATF

The Problem

It's been more than 6 years since the ATF has been led by a permanent, Senate-confirmed Director and we cannot allow the only federal agency tasked with enforcing gun laws to lack leadership — especially at a time when our nation’s gun violence epidemic rages.

President Biden recently nominated gun safety expert David Chipman to serve as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the federal agency charged with enforcing gun laws and overseeing the gun industry. A 25-year retired ATF agent, Chipman is vastly qualified for this role and will prioritize our safety from gun violence. But right now, the U.S. Senate confirmation vote is looming, and Maine Sen. Angus King is leaning against supporting Mr. Chipman's nomination.

The Solution

  • David Chipman is a dedicated law enforcement professional with over 30 years experience in public safety, including as a special agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

  • As a father, public servant, gun owner, decorated law enforcement professional and gun safety expert, David has spent his career serving the public, combating violent crime, and striving to make our nation and our communities safer every day.

  • As an agent, David spent his career in service of ATF’s unique mission of enforcing firearms and explosives laws that protect communities from people perpetuating violence and criminal activities, investigating acts of arson, bombings, and terrorism, and combating the illegal trafficking of alcohol and tobacco products.
