Rep. Lauren Underwood Earns Endorsement From Gun Reform Group

Rep. Lauren Underwood (Ill-14) was among eight "Strong Women" to earn an endorsement from the Gun Reform Group Giffords, named for and founded by Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. Giffords said in a statement that "strong women get things done and these leaders were essential to the successful effort to get gun safety legislation through Congress" and that "each has made clear that where others might waver, they will push ahead."

Rep Underwood shares the endorsement with seven of her fellow freshmen Congresswomen: Reps. Katie Porter (Calif.), Lucy McBath (Ga.), Angie Craig (Minn.), Susie Lee (Nev.), Susan Wild (Pa.), Jennifer Wexton (Va.) and Kim Schrier (Wash.)

Democratic wins in 2018, which gave the party control of the House, were largely credited to women in suburban districts — both female candidates and voters — and Giffords said gun control is a key issue for suburban women voters.
