BREAKING: Illinois Supreme Court Upholds Assault Weapons Ban In Deerfield

11/18/2021

Chicago CBS2: The Illinois Supreme Court on Thursday upheld an ordinance in north suburban Deerfield that bans assault weapons. The ordinance was passed in 2018, but did not go into effect until Dec. 7, 2020, when the Illinois Appellate Court reversed a ruling by a Lake County Circuit Court judge that blocked the ordinance.

After the ordinance was passed in 2018, the National Rifle Association, lawyers representing a Deerfield gun owner, and the group Guns Save Life sued to prevent it from going into effect. Check the report for more.
